CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to allow an authorized volunteer to issue a citation to a person parked in a clearly identified access aisle or access lane immediately adjacent to a space designated for parking by persons with disabilities.
Under the Code, a law enforcement agency or local unit of government already may implement and administer a program to authorize people other than law enforcement officers to issue citations for parking illegally in a spot for the disabled or blocking access to a fire lane.
