                                                                                 A bill to amend 1974 PA 150, entitled                                             

                                                                                

    "Youth rehabilitation services act,"                                        

                                                                                

    (MCL 803.301 to 803.309) by adding section 4d.                              

                                                                                

                THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:                      

                                                                                

1       Sec. 4d.  To ensure that policies and procedures regarding                  

                                                                                

2   public wards eligible for accommodations required under section             

                                                                                

3   504 of title V of the rehabilitation act of 1973, 29 USC 794;               

                                                                                

4   subtitle A of title II of the Americans with disabilities act of            

                                                                                

5   1990, 42 USC 12131 to 12134; and the implementing regulations for           

                                                                                

6   those statutes are followed, a youth agency shall require regular           

                                                                                

7   meetings between education and other youth agency staff to do, at           

                                                                                

8   least, all of the following:                                                

                                                                                

9       (a) Identify public wards who have disabilities that qualify                

                                                                                

10  them for accommodations required under section 504 of title V of            

                                                                                

11  the rehabilitation act of 1973, 29 USC 794; subtitle A of title             

                                                                                


                                                                                

1   II of the Americans with disabilities act of 1990, 42 USC 12131             

                                                                                

2   to 12134; and the implementing regulations for those statutes.              

                                                                                

3       (b) Develop strategies to accommodate the needs of the public               

                                                                                

4   wards identified under subdivision (a).                                     

                                                                                

5       (c) Ensure that strategies developed under subdivision (b)                  

                                                                                

6   are implemented and are effective.
